Two usual males, one sex-linked red male, two usual tortie
females and one usual female born 15th May 2008 from
Grand Champion Koperkat Drake Ramoray (Joe) x
Flamstone Crystalmosaic (Mosaic). Mosaic didn't have the easiest labour with her kittens,
she went into labour around 9am and the first kitten arrived at about 11am,
followed rather quickly by the second one. She then stopped for a couple of
hours before the third one arrived and then seemed to settle down and stop
completely despite it being obvious that there were still kittens inside
her! After a couple of hours I decided it was best to get her checked by our
vet, who gave her oxytocin and another two were born by 6pm. Unfortunately
Mosaic needed a caeserean for the last kitten because, despite having more
oxytocin, the last kitten hadn't moved down by 9:30pm and the vet was
concerned about Mosaic and the kitten due to the long labour.
At one week old, Mosaic and her kittens are doing well. Mosaic has recovered well from her caeserean. I have given a couple of the kittens a little extra milk because some haven't been gaining weight as much as the others. They are all really strong, greedy kittens and have all doubled their birth weight, which is pretty good for a litter of six.
At two and a half weeks old, Mosaic's kittens are growing fast and they no longer need extra milk. Mosaic has settled into motherhood really well and she is coping exceptionally with her six babies.
At three and a half weeks, Mosaic's kittens have learnt how to climb out of the kitten box and are even starting to lick their mum's food. It's already difficult to take nice pictures of these babies - I hate to think what they'll be like in a couple of weeks!!!
Mosaic's kittens are now five and a half weeks old and enjoy chasing each other around the kitchen! They all love their food but still like to have a little milk from mum. All this litter are really out-going and they all love to be around people!
Mosaic's kittens are now nearly eight weeks old and are tearing around the house with their new friends Blade and Tas!! All of these kittens have turned into really purry babies and love being stroked and cuddled.
At nine and a half weeks, Mosaic's kittens have had their first vaccinations. The vet was really impressed with how relaxed all of the kittens were and how well grown, considering that there are six of them!! Their ticking has now come through really nicely.
